Kho Kho
Kho Kho is one of India's oldest traditional sports, known for its speed, agility, teamwork, and strategic gameplay. Played between two teams of 12 players (with 9 players taking the field at a time), the game involves chasing and defending, requiring quick reflexes, coordination, and endurance. It promotes physical fitness, endurance, discipline, and sportsmanship. Over the years, Kho Kho has evolved from a traditional sport into a professionally organized game with national and international recognition. Kho Kho has expanded rapidly beyond India and is now played across Asia, Europe, Africa, Oceania, and the Americas. Kho Kho is played at various levels, from school and university tournaments to professional leagues and international championships.
The Asian Kho Kho Federation (AKKF) is actively promoting the sport by organizing international tournaments, technical workshops, coaching programs, and development initiatives. The international popularity of Kho Kho continues to increase through professional leagues, world championships, and grassroots development programs. Several countries have established national federations, while coaching and referee certification programs are helping standardize the sport globally. There is also a long-term vision among the sport's governing bodies to secure inclusion in future multi-sport events and, eventually, the Olympic Games.
