Mixed Martial Arts
Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is a dynamic combat sport that integrates various martial arts disciplines, including striking, grappling and submission techniques.
There are two disciplines of MMA: Traditional and Modern.
In traditional MMA, athletes wear MMA Gis and protective gear, which includes a mouthguard, 4oz and above gloves, a groin guard (male), and shin pads. In addition to striking, athletes can handle the Gi in throwing and submission techniques.
In modern MMA, besides the same protective gear as traditional MMA, both male and female athletes wear fight shorts. Male athletes are equipped with sleeveless rash guards, while female athletes wear sleeve rash guards on top.
MMA is a medal sport in the 6th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.
