Haiyang 2012

Haiyang is the host city for 2012 Asian Beach Games which was announced by Olympic Council of Asia in Doha on December 2, 2006. Haiyang is a coastal city in the peninsula province of Shandong in east China. It is strategically located in the centre of the prime tourist trio of Qingdao, Yantai, and Weihai.

Haiyang is known for its extensive sea beaches, national forest parks, wetland reserves, and also for beach and yacht activities.

The 3rd Asian Beach Games Haiyang 2012 will be held from 16th to 22nd June, and it will be the first time in China for a Metropolitan County to host international multi-sports event.

<div> <p>Interpretation: An overall concept of unity of man and nature is embodied in the emblem. Three moving figures hold their hands together, symbolizing that Asian people are living in harmony like a family and enjoying the great pleasure brought by beach sports.<br /><br />Three S elements, sun, sand and sea, are emphasized and aim to show the tourist features and to reflect the unique culture and charm of the host city of the 3rd Asian Beach Games.<br /><br />By one magic line, three sport postures of playing beach volleyball, playing football and swimming are outlined, like flame and like seawater. It is a proper and vivid description of the features of beach games. The three postures are just a combination of strength, passion and beauty of sports, representing the athletes' spirit of struggling, energy of competing and beauty of playing.<br /><br />Together with the sport postures and bright sun, the yellow line beneath, which composes a vivid and spectacular scene of Asian Beach Games, reflects its unique charm of passion, sunshine and fashion.<br /><br />The theme image of the emblem is similar to the Chinese character, with its pinyin form &ldquo;Hai&rdquo;, not only represents Haiyang as host city of the 3rd Asian Beach Games, but reflects the features of the Beach Games here. <div> <p>The mascots of the 3rd Asian Games are three Cartoon images named Hai Hai, Yang Yang and Sha Sha. With the Dragon, the phoenix, and the sun as archetypes, the mascots represent the seawater, the sunshine and the beach respectively. Reserving the creativity of "intimacy among family member" as the emblem implies, the images compose a harmonious view of a happy family of three, symbolizing the closeness like a family among the Asian people,&ldquo;sharing the joy", and the joyful spirits of the sports.<br /><br />Among the three images, the dragon and the phoenix are the most representative fantastic animals in Chinese folklores. The phoenix and the sun are the regional characteristics of Haiyang; meanwhile, the sun is one of the key elements of the OCA logo.<br /><br />The mascots as a whole reflect the concepts of &ldquo;Dragon and phoenix Bring Prosperity" and&ldquo;Nature and Man re One", showing the best wishes the Haiyang city hopes to extend to Asia and the world through the Asian Beach Games.<br /><br />Hai Hai<br /><br />The designing originated from the idiom&ldquo;Dragon and phoenix Bring Prosperity&ldquo;. The overall image takes dragon as the archetype with the color of ocean bleu, showing the close relationship between dragon and the sea, as well as the regional characteristics of Haiyang. The costume of the mascot evolved from the cultural features and the joyful sense of life.<br /><br />Yang Yang<br /><br />The image, which is the little sun of the family, is lively and lovely. The color of red as the rising sun is used to comply with hosting concepts of the Games showing the regional characteristics of Haiyang, the host city of the Games, as well as the enthusiasm of welcoming the Games of Haiyang people.<br /><br />Sha Sha<br /><br />The designing is inspired by the beautiful legend of Haiyang phoenix Beach. Deriving from the image of phoenix, and applying the color of sandy tawny, the overall image integrate the mascot and the legend artfully with passion&nbsp; and fashion, which is closely connected with the hosting concepts of &ldquo;Sand and sun, Passion and Fashion" of the 3rd Asian Beach Games.</p> </div> <div>&nbsp;</div>
Mascot
<div> <p>The torch for the 3rd Asian Beach Games takes as its prototype a phoenix dancing over the golden sand. Phoenix, a sign of good luck, is a flame carrier which symbolizes the spirit of Haiyang people, thus each torchbearer is like an angel of light dancing with the phoenix and passing the Haiyang spirit and joy throughout Asia.<br /><br />The torch contains 3 core colors: cherry red, beach yellow and sea blue. Cherry red represents sunshine and joy, beach yellow represents sports and passion and sea blue represents ocean and energy, which together embody the vision of the 3rd Asian Beach Games "Sand and Sun, Passion and Fashion".<br /><br />At the bottom of the torch is the emblem of the Olympic Council of Asia. The torch mouth shapes like a phoenix to become reborn at the moment of fl aming, which symbolizes the selfrenewal and persistent spirit of athletes.</p> </div> <div>&nbsp;</div>
