Handball has elements of both Football and Basketball – but it’s probably older than both. There are references to a sport very similar to Handball in ancient Greek literature, although the modern game developed in northern Europe at the end of the 19th century.
Today, fast-moving, high-scoring matches make Handball one of the most popular Olympic events in continental Europe. Handball has been an Asian Games event since 1982 in New Delhi, India.
