Japan is very keen for organizing multi sport event. Japan NOC organized Summer Asian Games in Tokyo 1958, Hiroshima 1994 and will host 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya in 2026. Also Japan organized the Winter Asian Games in Sapporo in 1986, 1990, 2017, as well as Aomori in 2003. Moreover Japan NOC organized Tokyo Summer Olympic Games in 1964 and Winter Olympic Games in Sapporo 1972, Nagano 1998.

Japan's geographical features divide it into five principal climatic zones: Hokkaido, Central Highland, Seto Inland Sea, Pacific Ocean and Ryukyu Islands.

Two primary factors influence Japan's climate: a location near the Asian continent and the existence of major oceanic currents.

The climate from June to September is marked by hot, wet weather brought by tropical airflows from the Pacific Ocean and Southeast Asia. These airflows are full of moisture and deposit substantial amounts of rain when they reach land.

There is a marked rainy season, beginning in early June and continuing for about a month. It is followed by hot, sticky weather. Five or six typhoons pass over or near Japan every year.
