Oman NOC meets athletics body to discuss Olympic qualification

Muscat, Oman, September 3, 2019: Sayyid Khalid al Busaidi, the newly-elected chairman of the Oman Olympic Committee, met top officials of the Oman Athletics Federation to review plans for participation at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Sayyid Khalid was elected to head the Oman Olympic Committee in July and, as part of his programme to meet and cooperate with sports bodies in the Sultanate, he chaired a meeting between the Committee’s board of directors and their counterparts in the Oman Athletics Federation.

The Chairman of the Oman Athletics Federation, Younis Al Siyabi, attended the meeting along with other senior officials of the federation.

The meeting reviewed plans and programmes for Tokyo 2020 qualification and participation in other international competitions, in addition to the issues and challenges facing the athletics federation.

The Oman Olympic Committee also outlined its plans to enhance the partnership with other sports bodies in the country.
