The torch was designed by the Korea Mint Corporation at free of charge and produced by Korea Explosive Co., Ltd. The protrudent band at the upper part of the torch symbolized meeting and harmony while the design on the lower part expressed the images of mountain and ski.

The mobile cauldron was designed by Prof. Seung Dae PARK of Kangwon Provincial junior College. The triangular shaped cauldron represented mountains, plain and the sea of Kangwon Province while the overall shape and color of the mobile cauldron expressed new challenge and the clean natural environment of the region.

In addition, the uniforms for the torchbearers, decorations for the escort vehicles and flags for the events were produced while the safety lamps to preserve the sacred flame were secured.
