Medal Kangwon 1999

The KAWGOC commissioned the Korea Mint Corporation to design and manufacture a total of 345 medals for the winners, including the medals awarded to the first, second and third place athletes and additional medals for reserves.

The obverse side of the medal showed Mt. Sorak, a mountain representing the host province, as a background in harmony with the Games emblem. The reverse side of the medal showed the Games mascot, Gomdori, at the center to represent the 4th Asian Winter Games. The medals were 60mm in diameter, 5.4mm in thickness and weighed 140g. The gold and the silver medals contained 92.5% of silver and 7.5% in bronze, in which the gold medal was gilded with 1.5mm.
