The official poster was produced and distributed to create an atmosphere for the successful organization of the Games as well as to publicize the Games. The official poster designed by the Kangwon University industrial design team, beared the combination of the enlarged emblem and a skier to provide an visual image of the Games, and the sun, the symbol of the OCA, and to provide an image of "Ever Onward" progress of Asia.

The prize contest for the official poster and the Games slogan were also publicized through newspapers in August of 1996, and a total of 452 entries were submitted. The KAWGOC decided on the official poster and the slogan on March 21, 1997 after screening the submitted entries.
