The 8th Sapporo Asian Winter Games Organizing Committee (SAWGOC) has unveiled the Games’ official mascot. It is inspired by an adorable species of flying squirrel that, in Japan, can only be found in Hokkaido. Hokkaido is the Northernmost of Japan’s four main islands, and Sapporo and Obihiro – the host cities of the 2017 Sapporo Asian Winter Games – are both located there.
 
Flying around energetically in a red scarf and blue cloak, this little hero will surely help liven up the 2017 Sapporo Asian Winter Games. SAWGOC is currently inviting the public to give it a name.
