Culture
The contemporary culture of North Korea is based on traditional Korean culture, but developed since the establishment of the Democratic People's Republic in 1948. Juche ideology asserts Korea's cultural distinctiveness and creativity as well as the productive powers of the working masses.
Sports
DPRK is very keen to develop sports in all of the Olympic disciplines. One of the most popular sports are football, gymnastics, diving, wrestling and weight lifting.
Climate
The winter season, from December to March, is long and cold; the average temperatures in January range between 21° F in the south and -8° F in the north. The summer is warm, with above 68° F in most places. Accordingly, the temperatures can be drastically different.
