Sharing a Moon Bright Even When Miles Apart

The sea mirrors the rising moon bright; miles apart, our hearts share tonight.

The design concept is inspired by a renowned ancient Chinese verse — “The sea mirrors the rising moon bright; miles apart, our hearts share tonight”. The integral design consists of two parts. The upper part is in the shape of a circle, symbolising the radiance of sun and moon both rising from the sea, and includes the emblem of the Games and Tianya stones embodying Sanya’s historical and regional culture. The surrounding curves on the lower part symbolise Sanya’s distinctive natural landscapes — ocean droplets, ocean waves and sand beaches. The side of the medal is engraved with the phrase “Welcome to Sanya”. Inspired by the concept of “sharing a moon bright even when miles apart”, the integral design blends Sanya’s historical and cultural heritage with its natural landscape, implying that we welcome you to Sanya at this very moment, also at each and every moment.
