Doha, Qatar, July 27, 2020: Qatar will host the Congress of World Association of Sport Management in March 2022. It will be the first time the international conference will be held in the Middle East.

The successful bid was a joint effort between Qatar University and Hamad Bin Khalifa University, a member of the Qatar Foundation, and was supported by the Qatar Olympic Committee and Qatar Olympic Academy.

An official statement released on Saturday, July 25, said the event would be another milestone for Qatar in its preparation for hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The Congress will also be an opportunity to promote education, research and publications in the multi-disciplinary areas of sport management in Qatar and the region, including sport governance, sport policy and strategy, sport marketing and event management.

The last World Association of Sport Management conference was held in Santiago, Chile in 2019 and attracted 150 delegates from over 40 countries.
