Hong Kong, China, July 23, 2020: The Asian Electronic Sports Federation (AESF) has completed its second Charity Cup online tournament.
The OCA-affiliated AESF conducted the King of Fighters XIV Charity Cup in association with the SNK Corporation based in Osaka, Japan.
Players from four East Asian countries and regions took part – China, Chinese Taipei, Japan and Hong Kong-China – on July 10, and Chinese Taipei’s Lin Chia-hung beat Akihito Sawada of Japan 5-0 in the final to be crowned King of Fighters.
The AESF provided six distribution platforms, including Facebook and YouTube, and they attracted over 340,000 total views. DouYu led the way with 200,000 views, followed by Bilibili with 80,000 and HuYa with 50,000, according to data released by the AESF.
The AESF Charity Cup is part of the Your Home, Your Arena campaign to bring the esports enthusiasts together during the pandemic and also to raise money for the vulnerable in the community whose life has been affected.
The prize money of 1,000 USD for the champion, 800 USD for the runner-up and USD 500 each for the two losing semi-finalists was donated to the AESF’s crowd funding site, Give.Asia.
This was the second edition of the AESF Charity Cup. The first online tournament was in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang game and involved eight Southeast Asian nations, with Indonesia beating Singapore 3-1 in the final.
