Lausanne, Switzerland, July 17, 2020: Veteran sports administrator Ng Ser Miang has described it as “an honour and privilege” to be elected Vice President of the IOC for the second time.

The 71-year-old Singaporean, who is Chairman of the OCA Advisory Committee and a member of the OCA Executive Board, was elected VP at the 136th IOC Session held by video conference on Friday, July 17.

It will be his second term of office as IOC Vice President after serving in this role from 2009 to 2013. He became an IOC Member in 1998. The IOC has four Vice Presidents.

“An honour and privilege to be a Vice President of the International Olympic Committee for the second time,” he said on his Facebook account.

“I will give my all to support the IOC and the Olympic Movement during this unprecedented time.  I also hope to continue to contribute to sports and the Olympic Movement in Singapore.”

He currently chairs the IOC Finance Commission and Human Resource Committee and was an Executive Board member from 2005 to 2009 and 2016 to 2020.

Ng, who garnered 82 of the 85 valid votes, and John Coates (Australia) replaced Ugur Erdener and Juan Antonio Samaranch.

At the 136th IOC Session, President Thomas Bach also indicated his readiness to run for the IOC presidency for a second term.

Bach praised the "highly impressive" efforts and plans which give all parties confidence that the Tokyo Olympic Games next year will be a great celebration of humanity, solidarity and resilience.
