Sri Lanka NOC welcomes track coach Campbell

Colombo, Sri Lanka, October 8, 2019: World renowned athletics coach Tony Campbell - the mentor of Sri Lanka’s Olympic 200m silver medallist Susanthika Jayasinghe - is visting the island to conduct a two-day workshop.

At the Bandaranaike International Airport, Campbell was received by Susanthika Jayasinghe and by Gobinath Sivarajah of the NOC SL.

During his stay, the coach is scheduled to meet with the Lankan athletics fraternity and exchange ideas. He is also scheduled to deliver a motivational speech and visit the three main athletics venues in Sri Lanka – Sugathadasa Stadium, Diyagama Stadium and the training centre at the Sports Ministry complex at Torrington Square.

As well as Jayasinghe, Campbell has worked with other famous athletes such as Michael Johnson, Maurice Greene, Otis Harris Jr., Tayna Lawrence, Dayron Robles, Allen Johnson, Felix Sanchez, Calvin Smith Sr. and Dennis Mitchell – all Olympic medallists.

Campbell’s lecture for elite athletes will be held at the Hemasiri Fernando Auditorium, NOC House, followed by a motivational talk to the coaches and athletes of all National Federations at the Sports Ministry Auditorium.

Following these two programmes there will be a press briefing at the Hemasiri Fernando Auditorium.
