Iran Basketball Federation chief appointed to FIBA Medical Commission

Tehran, Iran, October 2, 2019: Ramin Tabatabaei, President of the Iran Basketball Federation, has been appointed as a member of the International Basketball Federation’s (FIBA) Medical Commission.

“This appointment reflects your durable basketball skills, experience and commitment. With this appointment, we hope to work closely with you to develop and promote sport around the world,” FIBA wrote in a letter to Tabatabaei.

Tabatabaei was elected as head of the Iran Basketball Federation in January, 2018.

The FIBA Medical Commission, which was formed in 1977 and comprises membership from the five FIBA zones, has the responsibility of advising FIBA on medical and anti-doping matters.

Iran’s men’s basketball team has qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
