Malaysia’s anti-doping agency briefs NOC on new WADA Code

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, July 3, 2020: The Director of the Anti-Doping Agency of Malaysia (ADAMAS), Ms. Azura Abidin, made a courtesy visit to the Olympic Council of Malaysia offices on Thursday, July 2. 

She was accompanied by two Assistant Directors, Ms. Nor Azhani Abd Hazis and Mr. Mohd Hafizuddin Baki.

They were welcomed by Dato’ Mohd Nazifuddin, OCM Secretary General, Dato’ Dr. S.S. Cheema, Chair of the OCM Medical and Anti-Doping Committee, Ms. Michelle Chai, Chief Operating Officer of OCM, and Mr. Fong Wan Hor, General Manager of OCM.

Ms. Azura said in her briefing that the WADA Code 2021 and the ADAMAS Anti-Doping Rules 2021 would be enforced by next year.

She continued: “Under the new WADA Code 2021, ADAMAS - being the National Anti-Doping Organisation (NADO) in Malaysia - has the full authority on anti-doping matters and will act as an operational independent organisation to make decisions that are in accordance with the Code”.

The OCM will initiate a collaboration with the Sports Commissioner’s Office and ADAMAS to get all the National Sports Associations affiliated to OCM to comply with the WADA Code 2021 and the ADAMAS Anti-Doping Rules 2021.

“We are looking forward to working together with the ADAMAS for more educational and anti-doping awareness programmes for athletes” said Dato’ Mohd Nazifuddin.
