Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, June 30, 2020: The National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan has suspended training sessions of all national teams from Wednesday, July 1.
A recent spike in coronavirus cases has resulted in the Kazakhstan NOC deciding to suspend training camps in several sports which had resumed in June.
“In June, several national teams successfully held training camps in isolation mode. In addition, several other teams continued to train at sports facilities in compliance with sanitary and disinfection requirements. Due to the escalation of the epidemic situation in the country, as well as in consultation with the competent authorities, the task force decided to suspend training sessions,” said Elsiyar Kanagatov, Chief of Staff, Director of the Sports Directorate.
“We monitor the situation closely every day. It should be noted that the health of the athletes is always a priority for the NOC,” added Kanagatov.
From June 1-29, 26 training camps were held at 12 sports facilities. It was attended by 22 national teams.
During the training sessions, the NOC developed and isolated sports facilities in order to prevent danger.
As of June 30, the total number of coronavirus cases in Kazakhstan was 21,327 with 188 deaths and 13,008 recoveries.
