Kolkata, India, June 28, 2020: Indian archers Deepika Kumari and Atanu Das will tie the knot at Morabadi in Ranchi on Tuesday, June 30, with strict social distancing measures in place.

The pair said the 60 invitation cards carried small notes that requested guests to adhere to the government’s COVID-19 guidelines.

“Masks and sanitisers will be given out to guests on their arrival. We have made elaborate arrangements and booked a big banquet hall so that social distancing is properly maintained,” world number one Deepika said.

“We won’t touch anything. We want ourselves to be safe and at the same time protect others,” Deepika told PTI from Ranchi. “We have divided our guests into two batches. In the first lot, from 5.30pm to 7pm, there will be 50 and the other 50 will come in the second lot.”

Archers Association of India’s newly-elected president Arjun Munda, who has played a key role in Deepika’s rise to become world number one, is expected to attend the low-key wedding.

The duo, who have been engaged since 2018, zeroed in on June 30 as their wedding day, hoping that the coronavirus situation would be eased by September, around which time the AAI plans to resume the training camp for the Tokyo Olympics.
