CTOC celebrates Olympic Day 2020 with flash workout

Taipei, June 23, 2020: To celebrate Olympic Day 2020, Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee (CTOC) organised a flash event in front of the historical and iconic building - Red House Theater in Ximending, Taipei city.

The staff of CTOC held a five-minute workout at the north square of the Red House Theater. Through this eye-catching flash event, CTOC successfully raised public awareness towards the importance of staying healthy amid the COVID-19 pandemic, thereby promoting the campaign of #Staystrong and #Stayactive initiated by the IOC.

The annual Olympic Day celebration encouraged athletes and the Olympic family all around the world to stick together. Especially amid this challenging time, exercise is emphasized for everyone to stay healthy, both physically and mentally.

Therefore, CTOC specifically chose to live-stream a workout session at another famous tourist spot - Rainbow Pedestrian in Taipei - not only to bring the public’s attention to the Olympic values of Excellence, Respect and Friendship but also to pay tribute to the efforts Taiwan has made in raising awareness of gender equality and LGBT rights.

CTOC also invited many Chinese Taipei athletes to upload their workout photos on social media to promote the #Staystrong campaign. The participating athletes included Hung-Ying Lee (Sport Climbing), Chih-Kai Lee (Gymnastics), Nien-Chin Chen (Boxing) and Yung-Wei Yang (Judo).
