Iran looks for closer cooperation in sports with Russia

Tehran, Iran, June 17, 2020: Iran’s Minister of Sports and Youth Masoud Soltanifar has invited his Russian counterpart to visit Iran to fulfil provisions of a memorandum of understanding on sports cooperation between the two countries.

In a meeting with the Russian ambassador Levan Dzhagaryan in Tehran on Tuesday, June 16, Soltanifar hailed the two countries’ potential to help expand sports relations.

A memorandum of understanding has been signed between Iran and Russia in the fields of sport and youth in which both countries must take steps to implement the agreement to benefit each other’s capabilities and facilities, Soltanifar said.

Appreciating Iran’s Minister of Sports and Youth, the Russian ambassador described the issues discussed at the meeting as very constructive, saying plans to expand sports cooperation can pave the way to develop sports in both countries.
