Iran NOC lauds shooter Hanieh Rostamian for clinching LA28 quota

Tehran, Iran, November 8, 2026: Hanieh Rostamian clinched Iran’s first quota for the LA28 Olympics with a stellar fourth-place finish in the women’s 10m air pistol event at the ISSF World Shooting Championships in Doha, Qatar.

The milestone was lauded by the National Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who, in a congratulatory message, praised Rostamian's relentless dedication and the expertise of the coaching staff.

“We congratulate her dedication. This is a vital first step for the nation’s sports delegation on the road to Los Angeles 2028, and we express profound gratitude to everyone involved in the federation’s rigourous preparation,” the Iran NOC noted.

Competing against a world-class field, Rostamian finished fourth. Given that two Chinese rivals were in the top three, she won a historic Olympic quota in shooting for Iran at the Los Angeles Games.

Adding to her remarkable campaign, Rostamian returned to the firing line alongside Vahid Golkhandan in the 10m air pistol mixed team event. The Iranian duo won the silver medal.

This latest podium finish builds on their recent bronze medal success at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, further cementing Iran’s rising prominence and competitive depth in the international shooting stage.
