Amman, Jordan, November 5, 2026: Jordanian judoka Huda Weshah returned home on Thursday morning to a hero’s welcome after her historic achievement at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games.
Huda became the first Jordanian athlete to win an Olympic medal in judo – at the Olympic Games or YOG – with silver in the under-44kg category in Dakar.
Weshah and her coach Bilal Al-Qalilat were welcomed joyously by members of the judo community at the Queen Alia International Airport early on Thursday morning.
Weshah’s path to the silver medal was achieved by victories over athletes from Greece, Poland and Venezuela, before losing the final bout against Turkey’s Sima Yiskel.
