Dakar, Senegal, November 1, 2026: The Sports Ministers of Iran and Senegal have underscored the importance of expanding bilateral sports ties during a meeting on October 31, on the sidelines of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games.

During the meeting between Iran’s Minister of Sports and Youth, Ahmad Donyamali, and his Senegalese counterpart Djireye Clotilde Coly, it was agreed to formulate a comprehensive joint Memorandum of Understanding focusing on sports and youth development.

Iran’s Minister of Sports and Youth congratulated Senegal on hosting the Youth Olympic Games, describing the event as a historic milestone for Africa. He proposed leveraging virtual meetings to finalise a MoU – particularly in athletic education – ahead of an official visit to Iran by his Senegalese counterpart.

In return, Senegal’s Sports Minister, Mrs. Clotilde Coly, welcomed the initiative, and praised Iran’s participation in the YOG. She accepted Donyamali’s formal invitation to visit Tehran, and expressed hope that the sporting event in Dakar would reinforce international peace and friendship.
