Male, Maldives, October 29, 2026: The Maldives Olympic Committee successfully concluded its first Sports Administrators Course for 2026 held under the auspices of Olympic Solidarity from October 22-24.

The three-day course brought together 20 participants representing 11 National Sports Associations, with the aim of strengthening their knowledge and practical skills in sports administration and managing national teams at international sports events.

The course achieved gender parity with 10 male and 10 female participants. The strong female presence was a particularly encouraging aspect of the programme, reflecting positive progress towards greater inclusion and opportunities for women in sports administration.

Conducted under the theme "Team Management for International Games", the course provided participants with comprehensive training on the responsibilities and operational requirements of managing national teams in regional, continental and international sporting events.

A wide range of topics were covered including the structure of the Olympic Movement, leadership and professional responsibilities of team managers, effective communication and coordination, and practical aspects like travel arrangements, accreditation, financial management and reporting requirements.

There were sessions on athlete welfare, health and safety, safeguarding, Olympic values, anti-doping, prevention of competition manipulation, decision-making, conflict resolution and crisis management.

Participants also explored media relations, public communication and the importance of maintaining professionalism and accountability when representing the Maldives internationally.

The course was facilitated by MOC Director General Mohamed Jaushan Shareef. MOC Secretary General Thamooh Ahmed Saeed and Games Executive Mariyam Shaufa also conducted sessions.
