UAE NOC discusses plans for 2020 Asian Beach Games

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, June 11, 2020: Top officials of the United Arab Emirates National Olympic Committee and the General Authority of Sports discussed the technical and logistical preparations of athletes for the upcoming 6th Asian Beach Games in Sanya, China.

In an online meeting held this week, the two parties talked about measures to prepare the UAE contingent for the November 28-December 6 showpiece which will feature 17 sports and attract athletes from 45 countries and regions.

Attending the meeting were Mohammed bin Darwish, Executive Director, UAE Olympic Committee, and Ahmed Al Tayeb, Director of technical sports and technical affairs at the UAE NOC, and Marwan Al Marzouqi, Head of Finance, General Authority of Sports.

The meeting started with an offering of thanks to Sheikh Ahmed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the NOC, for supporting all athletes in all sporting events.

The consensus among the attendees was to win medals and raise the profile of UAE on the international stage.

A total of 17 sports, 19 disciplines and 93 events have been included in the Games programme.

The Olympic Council of Asia launched the Asian Beach Games in 2008 in Bali, Indonesia, followed by 2010 Muscat, Oman, 2012 Haiyang, China, 2014 Phuket, Thailand and 2016 Danang, Vietnam.
