Manila, Philippines, June 11, 2020: The Ninoy Aquino Stadium, one of the Philippine Sports Commission-owned sports venues converted to a “We Heal as One Centre” for COVID-19 patients, has sent home all of its 123 patients with no recorded fatalities.
Philippine Sports Commission’s Security Supervisor Angel Dayag said that, of the 123 recovered cases, the oldest was 63 and the youngest 18.
After the discharge of all the patients, the indoor stadium immediately went through full disinfection and repairs starting from Monday and finishing on Friday, June 12.
There are other PSC facilities that are operational and still catering to suspected to mild-positive and positive COVID-19 patients.
The Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Manila has only 67 patients remaining, while the Multi-Purpose Arena inside the PhilSports Complex in Pasig City has 34 patients still at the complex as of June 9.
The “We Heal as One” slogan is adapted from the ubiquitous “We Win as One” campaign from the Philippines’ successful hosting of the 30th Southeast Asian Games last year.
