Amman, Jordan, October 8, 2026: HRH Prince Faisal bin Al Hussein, President of the Jordan Olympic Committee, inaugurated the Wrestling Veteran World Championships 2026 in the capital Amman on Tuesday, October 6.
The tournament, which will carry on until Sunday, October 11, features more than 500 competitors from 50 countries, competing in weight and age categories ranging from 35 to 60 years.
The President of the Jordan Wrestling Federation, Muhammad Al-Awamleh, in his welcome speech stressed the importance of Jordan hosting the global event, noting that a championship of this scope reflected the confidence that the Kingdom enjoys in its ability to host and organise major international sporting events.
Zamel Al-Shahrani, representative of the International Wrestling Federation, praised the preparations for the event, and thanked Jordan and the Jordan Wrestling Federation for hosting the event.
