Tehran, Iran, October 6, 2026: Iranian women achieved significant success at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, capturing 14 medals, including three golds, to set new national benchmarks.

Iran placed sixth in Asia overall securing 19 gold, 18 silver and 15 bronze for a total 52 medals. Women contributed directly to 14 of these medals, winning three gold, six silver and five bronze, earning nearly 27 percent of Iran’s total medals.

The three gold medals were claimed by Fatemah Mojallal in lightweight single sculls, Zeinab Norouzi and Kimia Zarei in lightweight double sculls and Saghar Moradi in taekwondo.

Iranian women failed to win a gold medal at Hangzhou 2022, underlining the massive strides female athletes have made in the country.

In the silver medal tally for Iran in Nagoya, women accounted for one-third of the total won by the delegation. Silver medals were won in karate, rowing, kabaddi and track and field.

Iranian women’s bronze medals came in rowing, shooting, taekwondo and weightlifting.

The Islamic Republic sent a delegation of 305 athletes, comprising 210 men and 95 women.
