Nagoya, Japan, October 3, 2026: Team Hong Kong, China has achieved another historic milestone at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026.
Tennis player Coleman Wong won gold in the men’s singles on Saturday, October 3, marking the team’s eighth gold medal of the Games and equalling the delegation’s all-time gold medal record set at the previous Asian Games.
Team Hong Kong, China has so far secured 8 gold, 17 silver and 22 bronze medals. By winning the gold medal, Coleman has directly secured an Olympic berth for Hong Kong, China at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
The Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC) extends its heartfelt congratulations to Coleman and the tennis team.
Mr. Wong Po Kee, Honorary Deputy Secretary General of SF&OC and Chef de Mission of the Hong Kong, China delegation, said: “Competing at the Asian Games as the top seed, Coleman delivered consistent performances right from the early rounds.
“Facing a formidable opponent in the final, Coleman stayed calm and composed at critical moments, demonstrating remarkable mental toughness and resilience to ultimately claim a historic Asian Games tennis gold medal for Hong Kong, China. It is a well-deserved victory.”
Hong Kong, China has sent a delegation of more than 800 members, including approximately 580 athletes, to compete in 38 sports. Team Hong Kong, China is making its Asian Games debut in padel, modern pentathlon and wrestling.
The 20th Asian Games will close on Sunday, October 4 at Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium.
