Nagoya, Japan, October 1, 2026: The Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games have attracted many visitors from Japan and abroad, creating new opportunities for exchange and connections beyond sport.
Aichi Prefecture, in cooperation with local governments and partner organizations, has promoted regional development through five key goals:
*sport and health
*tourism and culture
*economy and industry
*human resource development and international exchange
*an inclusive society.
To showcase Aichi's strengths in manufacturing, history, traditional culture, nature and food, various promotional activities have been implemented, including city tours for athletes, officials, media representatives and visitors during the Games.
“Nagoya City is committed to ensuring that the Asian Games leave a lasting legacy by contributing to sports development, international exchange, tourism, social inclusion, urban development and global competitiveness,” a spokesperson told a press conference on September 30.
“As part of our efforts to strengthen international exchange with Asia and the wider world, Nagoya City has established sister-city and partnership-city relationships with overseas cities.
“Building on the connections made through the Asian Games, we will further promote exchanges not only in sports but also in a wide range of fields, including culture, education and business, with the countries and regions whose representatives and visitors come to Nagoya.”
The next major international opportunity for Aichi-Nagoya will be the 60th Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), to be held from May 2-5, 2027. The meeting is expected to attract approximately 5,000 participants, including finance ministers, central bank governors, representatives of financial institutions, NGOs and media organizations.
As the host city, Aichi-Nagoya is preparing transportation services, volunteer support, seminars, excursions and promotional activities to ensure a successful meeting.
Building on the connections and momentum generated by the Asian and Asian Para Games, Aichi-Nagoya aims to strengthen international exchange and contribute to the region's long-term development through the ADB Annual Meeting and beyond.
