Nagoya, Japan, September 29, 2026: The Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia, Mr. Husain Al Musallam, believes a slew of world records has led to a “fantastic” Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026.
The 20th Asian Games has seen several new world records established in sports such as weightlifting, shooting and swimming, along with multiple Asian records and Asian Games records.
“First of all, I am very proud about the success of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026,” he said in an interview with OCA social media.
“The Games have reached such a high level regarding the host broadcaster, the new technology being used, the remote host broadcaster and the high level in the IT Games Solutions.
“The most important thing is we have world records in swimming, in weightlifting and other sports. This means a lot for the success of the 20th Asian Games.”
Mr. Al Musallam said that everyone faced challenges in their life – but “when the sport starts, I think everybody is satisfied, everybody is happy.”
The OCA Director General added: “We are very lucky and proud that His Majesty the Emperor of Japan and His Majesty the Crown Prince attended not only the opening ceremony but some of the sports events and they found it fantastic, as well as the spectators and the athletes themselves.”
The 20th Asian Games are taking place from September 19 to October 4 with 11,000 athletes from the OCA’s 45 National Olympic Committees.
