The OCA today signed the Host City Contract (HCC) with Kuwait to host the inaugural edition of the Asian Esports and Mind Sports Games in 2027, marking a significant milestone in the OCA’s commitment to creating more opportunities for athletes and engaging new audiences throughout Asia.
The launch of the new event is the first under OCA President HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al-Thani’s presidency and will see 4,000 athletes take part, demonstrating the depth and popularity of Esports and Mind Sports in Asia. The programme of the Games will be announced in due course and support the development and advancement of the sports in the region.
The OCA is also in discussion with the Philippines to host the second edition in 2029 with a decision anticipated at the 2027 OCA General Assembly in Doha.
OCA President HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani said:

“The Asian Games here in Aichi-Nagoya are the ultimate embodiment of this principle. But through the launch of events like the Asian Esports and Mind Sports Games we can create new opportunities for our continent’s athletes to showcase their talent and better serve the development of Asia’s diverse sporting interests.”
The HCC signing took place on the sidelines of the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games which will officially open this evening with a spectacular Opening Ceremony.
