Nagoya, Japan, September 20, 2026: India and Sri Lanka outclassed Bangladesh and Pakistan respectively to set up the women’s cricket Asian Games final clash on Tuesday, September 22.
Clinical India sealed their spot in the final with a dominant 114-run win over Bangladesh at Korogi Athletic Park in Nisshin, Aichi Prefecture. Sri Lanka had earlier beaten Pakistan by eight wickets.
India, defending gold medallists, stormed into the final having posted a massive 195 riding on a maiden T20I century from opener Shafali Verma who was unbeaten on 100.
Fellow-opener Smriti Mandhana (37) and captain Harmanpreet Kaur (40) also made useful contributions helping India to 195 for four after opting to bat first. Bangladesh was bowled out for 81.
In the earlier match, Sri Lankan skipper Chamari Athapaththu hit an unbeaten 83 off 50 balls as the island-nation overhauled Pakistan’s total of 177 for four with more than two overs to spare. It was Sri Lanka’s highest total in a successful chase.
Pakistan will meet Bangladesh in the bronze medal match on Tuesday.
