His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), chaired the 110th meeting of the OCA Executive Board in Nagoya, Japan, prior to the opening of the 20th Asian Games Aichi–Nagoya 2026.
At the outset of the meeting, H.E. Sheikh Joaan welcomed the Executive Board members and expressed his appreciation to the Organising Committee for its efforts in preparing for the Games, which will open on Saturday with the participation of 45 National Olympic Committees and continue until October 4.
Mr Hideaki Ohmura, President of the Organising Committee and Governor of Aichi Prefecture, reaffirmed the Committee’s commitment to providing the best possible environment for the participating athletes and delegations. He also expressed his appreciation for the OCA’s continued support and guidance.
The meeting reviewed the latest preparations for the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games Riyadh 2026, the Asian Beach Games Cebu 2028 and the Asian Winter Games Almaty 2029.
The Executive Board also reviewed the Kuwait Olympic Committee’s request to host the inaugural Asian Esports and Mind Sports Games in 2027, with the Host City Contract signing ceremony scheduled to take place on Saturday, September 19.
The meeting also considered the Philippine Olympic Committee’s request to host the second edition of the Games in Manila in 2029. The request will be discussed at the OCA General Assembly in Doha in January 2027.
