Nagoya, Japan, September 19, 2026: The Team Welcome Ceremony for the Malaysian contingent at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 was held on Friday, September 18 at the Athletes’ Interaction Area, Athletes Plaza, Garden Pier, in Nagoya.
The ceremony was officiated by Mr. Naoki Matsui, Acting Director General, on behalf of the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games Organizing Committee (AINAGOC).
Mr. Matsui welcomed delegations from six National Olympic Committees: Laos, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, Tajikistan and Vietnam, as well as the OCA Refugee Team.
Malaysia was represented by 10 members headed by the Chef de Mission, Mohd Sumali Reduan, Vice President of NOC Malaysia.
The highlights of the Team Welcome Ceremony included the playing of the national anthems and the raising of the flags of the respective NOCs, symbolising the warm welcome extended by AINAGOC and OCA.
Following the Team Welcome Ceremony, AINAGOC invited all NOCs to participate in the Asia Unity Tree-Planting Session, an activity held in the spirit of peace, friendship, unity and a sustainable future for Asia, under the key sustainability concept of “Realizing Social Good Games”.
The team welcome ceremonies were held from September 16-18 with three time slots per day.
