New Delhi, India, September 17, 2026: Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha has announced the introduction of two prestigious new awards, the Raja Randhir Singh Trophy and the Jaspal Rana Trophy, to honour the best male and female athletes, respectively, at the Asian Games.
The new memorial trophies celebrate the legacies of two significant figures in Indian sport – the Raja Randhir Singh Trophy named after the veteran sports administrator and multiple Asian Games and Commonwealth Games medallist and the Jaspal Rana Trophy named after the renowned pistol coach.
Randhir Singh served as OCA President, and previously was Secretary General of IOA for 25 years, from 1987 to 2012. He passed away at the age of 79 in May this year.
Jaspal Rana was the coach of double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker. He passed away at the age of 49 in June.
IOA President Usha made the announcement on Tuesday, September 15, at the book launch "Maverick Jaspal".
“From this year, the IOA had decided to introduce two memorial trophies in the names of the legendary Raja Randhir Singh and shooting great Jaspal Rana for the best athletes in the Asian Games,” Usha said.
