Arian Salimi (Iran, 22) – Taekwondo

Olympic champion focused on serving all athletes

Despite his young age, Salimi has a lot of inside knowledge on the workings of an athletes’ committee (AC). He has been a member of the national taekwondo federation’s AC since June 26, 2024 and of the Iran NOC’s AC since December 19, 2025.

Salimi reached the pinnacle of his sporting career at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where he captured the gold medal in the +80 kg category. His distinguished record also includes silver at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games.

Looking beyond his career as an athlete, Salimi aspires to use his experience, platform and voice to contribute meaningfully to the sporting community in Asia and beyond.

He is committed to serving not only as an elite competitor but also as a responsible representative and role model, dedicated to empowering athletes, inspiring the next generation and contributing to a stronger, more united and athlete-centered future for sport.

“I am running for the OCA Athletes Committee because I believe athletes should have a meaningful voice in the decisions that shape their sporting careers and their future,” he said.

“As an Olympic champion and an international athlete, I have experienced both the opportunities and challenges at the highest level. I understand that, alongside success, athletes face many challenges including competition pressure, injures, financial and educational concerns.

“I want to use this experience to contribute to a stronger, more effective platform for athletes across Asia, one that listens to their concerns, understands their realities and ensures that their perspectives are reflected in the development of sport.”

Salimi added: “I seek the support of fellow athletes through the trust I have earned from my experience, integrity and genuine commitment to serving the athlete community, not simply through my medals or achievements.

“Having experienced high-level sport firsthand, I understand the challenges and responsibilities that shape an athlete’s journey. As an Olympic champion, I have been given a platform; I see this election as an opportunity to use that platform in service of others.”
