Nagoya, Japan, September 14, 2026: The first match in the women’s football tournament at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 ended in a 1-1 draw between the Philippines and Uzbekistan at Gifu Nagaragawa Stadium on Monday, September 14.

As steady rain fell over the misty mountains surrounding the ground, the two teams shared the spoils in this opening Group G encounter.

Both goals came in the last 10 minutes. Uzbekistan took the lead in the 81stminute when left-back Umida Zoirova crossed from the left and midfielder Mehribon Egamberdieva prodded the ball home with the outside of her right foot from the edge of the box into the bottom corner.

Zoirova then presented the Philippines with an equalizer in the 89th minute when she was caught in possession deep in her own penalty box by substitute Natalie Collins, who fired the ball home off the far post to make it 1-1. Collins was only on the pitch for eight minutes but was the Philippines’ hero on the day.

Other matches were scheduled for Shizuoka Stadium Ecopa and Osaka Stadium Nagai on Monday.
