Manila, Philippines, September 9, 2026: The Philippine Olympic Committee organised a media day for athletes ahead of the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya from September 19 to October 4.
“A unified front for Nagoya,” proclaimed the POC. “Team Pilipinas athletes and stakeholders face the press and cameras.
“The road to the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games is paved with clear goals and unwavering support. Today, the Philippine Olympic Committee brought together our national athletes, key delegation assets and sports officials for a comprehensive gathering and media briefing.
“Facing the country's top sports journalists, our athletes showcased their absolute readiness to fly the flag high in Japan.
“This powerful gathering highlights the crucial synergy between our competitors, the organizations that back them and the media practitioners who bring their inspiring stories to every Filipino home.
“One team. One vision. The countdown to Nagoya is officially on,” the post concluded.
The Philippines will send a 447-strong delegation to the Asian Games to compete in 34 sports disciplines.
The team includes world No. 18 in women’s tennis, Alex Eala; double Olympic gold medallist in men’s artistic gymnastics at Paris 2024, Carlos Yulo; defending men’s pole vault champion EJ Obiena; and the men’s basketball team, who won gold at Hangzhou 2022 by defeating Jordan in the final for their fifth Asian Games title overall but first in 61 years.
