Yang Chun-Han (Chinese Taipei, 29) – Athletics
The two-time Olympic sprinter will be making his third appearance at the Asian Games after Jakarta-Palembang 2018 and Hangzhou 2022. He already has a silver and bronze medal to his name at the Asian Games.
Yang holds the national record in the 100 metres (10.11 seconds) and 200 metres (20.23 seconds) and won the 100m gold medal in the 2017 World University Games.
“As an athlete, my journey has been shaped by speed, determination, resilience and the belief that, with hard work and persistence, it is possible to continue breaking through our own limits,” he said.
As he prepares for the 20th Asian Games and Los Angeles Olympic Games in 2028, Yang is keen to add another string to his bow by being elected a member of the OCA Athletes’ Committee.
“I have competed as an athlete for many years and I understand the challenges athletes face at different stages of their careers,” he said.
“I want to be a bridge between athletes and the OCA and make sure our voices are heard. My years of international competition have taught me how to face pressure, success, setbacks and challenges.
“I have also competed with athletes from across Asia for many years. I want to use my experience to listen, connect athletes and bring their needs to the OCA.”
Yang listed his top three priorities as:
*Voice: Athlete voices create better communication between athletes and the OCA.
*Care: Athlete well-being - support mental health, Safe Sport and a safe and healthy environment.
*Future: Life beyond sport - support education, career development and life after competition.
“I know what it means to compete, to win, to lose and to keep going,” he added.
“I will listen, take action and follow up. No matter where athletes come from or what sport athletes play, I want our voice to be heard. An athlete’s voice matters.”
