Ramallah, Palestine, September 1, 2026: The Anti-Doping Committee of the Palestine Olympic Committee held an awareness seminar on Monday, August 31 for athletes and coaches participating at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya later this month.
The lecture was conducted by nutritionist and member of the Anti-Doping Committee, Diala Shaheen, and was aimed at raising awareness about anti-doping rules and the procedures athletes may be subject to during competition.
Key topics related to combating doping, including the mechanism for conducting tests during the event, the rights and duties of the athletes, prohibited substances and methods, as well as the health and sporting risks resulting from the use of prohibited substances.
Ms. Shaheen emphasised the importance of athletes being fully aware of the dangers of prohibited substances. She stressed that an athlete’s responsibility extended beyond avoiding performance-enhancing drugs but also monitoring the medications and supplements they use.
She also touched on the list of substances and methods prohibited in sport, underlining the need for the athletes to be aware of what could constitute a violation of anti-doping rules.
Palestine will send 67 athletes to the September 19 to October 4 showpiece in Japan.
