Doha, Qatar, August 31, 2026: The Qatar Olympic Committee has announced that Qatar will send 243 athletes to the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games from September 19 to October 4.
At a press conference on Sunday, August 30, the QOC revealed that the delegation will number 427 members. This includes 243 athletes – 184 men and 59 women – officials and technical staff.
The Qatar News Agency reported that Qatar will compete in archery, athletics, basketball, 3x3 basketball, boxing, esports, equestrian, fencing, football, karate, golf, gymnastics, judo, jiu-jitsu, handball, padel, squash, shooting, swimming, sailing, taekwondo, table tennis, beach volleyball, volleyball, wrestling and weightlifting.
To support the delegation, the QOC unveiled the "Mirqab" platform, a digital portal designed to provide comprehensive coverage of Qatar’s participation at the 20th Asian Games.
These Games will provide Qatari athletes with valuable experience ahead of the 2030 Asian Games which will be hosted by Doha.
Ahmed Youssef Al Darwish, head of the administrative delegation of the Qatari contingent, said Qatari female athletes accounted for 31 per cent of the total number of participating athletes, describing it as a positive indicator that reflected the development of women’s sport in the country.
