Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, August 30, 2026: The Olympic Council of Malaysia has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing women’s empowerment, safeguarding in sport and gender equity through its strong support for the launch of Guardian Girls Malaysia (GGM).
The launch ceremony was held on Friday, August 28 at the Japanese Ambassador’s Residence in Kuala Lumpur.
GGM is part of the global Guardian Girls International initiative founded by Mr. Shin Koyamada, Chairman of GGI, with the objective of coordinating, promoting and supporting Guardian Girls-related activities worldwide.
GGM will organise a series of programmes aimed at advancing women’s empowerment, safeguarding in sport, education and community engagement.
Among its key initiatives will be the Southeast Asia Women Citizen Dialogue (SEA-WCD), which will provide a platform to address critical issues affecting women and girls, including gender equality and violence against women and girls.
OCM was represented at the launch ceremony by the Secretary General, Mr. Mohd Nasir Ali, Vice President and Chair of the Gender Equity Committee, Olympian Nurul Huda Abdullah, and the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Wan Hor Fong.
“NOC Malaysia welcomes the establishment of Guardian Girls Malaysia as an important platform to strengthen collaboration among the Olympic Movement, International Federations, National Federations, government agencies, academia and civil society in creating greater opportunities for women and girls through sports and dialogue,” the OCM said.
