Baghdad, Iraq, August 27, 2026: The President of the National Olympic Committee of Iraq, Dr. Aqeel Muften, has called on all national sports federations to pay special attention to age groups and nurturing young talent who will be the future of sport in the country.
The Iraq NOC President affirmed that building a promising young generation of athletes is one of the most important pillars of Iraqi sport, stressing the need to discover and nurture new talent in order to build a feeder system for national teams across all sports.
Dr. Muften said the Iraq NOC’s vision is to support national federations and clubs that promote age groups in various sports with the aim of uncovering talented athletes at a young age so as to work and develop their technical skills.
Investing in the sports base is the best way to build strong national teams and create a better future for Iraqi sport, noted Dr. Muften.
