Islamabad, Pakistan, August 26, 2026: The Executive Committee of the South Asia Olympic Council (SAOC) brought their visit to Pakistan to an end by visiting the Prime Minister’s Office in Islamabad.
The SAOC delegation, comprising representatives from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka, met Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, and discussed the importance of youth and sport.
Earlier, over the weekend, the delegation had been briefed by the Pakistan Olympic Association on plans to hold the 14th South Asian Games from April 3-11, 2027 in Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar. The Indian Olympic Association joined the meeting online.
The delegates also visited key competition venues and cultural sites in Islamabad, and the programme concluded with a visit to Government House in Murree.
The President of the SAOC and POA, Arif Saeed, accompanied the delegation to Government House.
The message from the POA to their South Asian neighbours was that the country was preparing with purpose and looking forward to welcoming South Asia in April 2027.
