Kuwait City, Kuwait, August 26, 2026: The Olympic Council of Asia has announced the candidates for the OCA Athletes’ Committee election to be held during the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026.
The OCA is looking to fill four places on the Athletes’ Committee:
*West Asia – one female athlete
*Central Asia – one male athlete
*East Asia – one male athlete
*Southeast Asia – one female athlete
The closing date for National Olympic Committees to submit candidates was Friday, August 21, after which the OCA announced the following list:
West Asia (two nominations): Hanan Nassar (Jordan, Boxing), Reem Al Sharsharni (Qatar, Shooting).
Central Asia (three nominations): Arian Salimi (Iran, Taekwondo), Amir Maimuratov (Kazakhstan, Sport Climbing), Jasurbek Jaysunov (Uzbekistan, Taekwondo).
East Asia (three nominations): Cho Sung-min (South Korea, Sailing), Naoto Tobe (Japan, Athletics), Chun Han Yang (Chinese Taipei, Athletics).
Southeast Asia (one nomination): Thanyalak Chotphibunsin (Thailand, Shooting).
The voting period for athletes at the Asian Games is September 20-October 2, after which the four members of the OCA Athletes’ Committee will be announced. They will work under the Chair of the Athletes’ Committee, Ms. Ding Ning of China, and provide a voice for the athletes in the day-to-day running of the Olympic Movement in Asia.
