New Delhi, India, August 24, 2026: Olympic champion and World No. 1 An Se-young won her second BWF World Championships women’s single crown in New Delhi on Sunday, August 23, defeating Japan’s three-time world champion and second-ranked Akane Yamaguchi 21-17, 21-14.
It was the second world title for the 24-year-old An following Copenhagen in 2023, and cemented her place as the No. 1 player in the world after her Paris 2024 success. An also won the Asian Games title at Hangzhou 2022.
South Korea added the women’s doubles tile in New Delhi as Baek Ha-na and Lee So-hee defeated China's defending champions Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning 21-15, 21-15.
China won the men’s doubles through Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang, who beat Malaysia's Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik 21-17, 21-16.
In the mixed doubles final, France's Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue outlasted top-seeded Chinese pair Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping 22-20, 19-21, 21-15 to capture their country's first-ever gold in the event.
