Islamabad, Pakistan, August 24, 2026: The Executive Committee of the South Asia Olympic Council reviewed preparations for the 14th South Asian Games to be held from April 3-11, 2027 in Islamabad, Lahore and Peshawar.
The Ex-Co meeting was chaired by Mr. Arif Saeed, President of the SAOC and Pakistan Olympic Association.
Representatives from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka attended the meeting in person, while India participated virtually via Zoom.
The Games will feature 28 sports, 346 medal events and approximately 3,200 athletes across three host cities and 28 competition venues.
The SAOC representatives were briefed on the readiness of venues in Lahore and Peshawar, while the delegation will visit competition venues in Islamabad on Monday as part of the ongoing assessment.
Key operational areas including accommodation, transportation, Games handbooks and manuals, pre-launch activities and the 100 Days to Go milestone were also reviewed.
Pakistan continues to make steady progress towards hosting a successful 14th South Asian Games and welcoming athletes and officials from across the region.
